Most homeopathic bacterial vaginosis remedies on the market contain multiple ingredients at very dilute quantities in an aqueous solution. The intended mechanism of all of these ingredients may be somewhat different but they have one thing in common. They are all included with the goal of stimulating the body to heal itself as this is at the very core of homeopathic medicine. For example, some ingredients may have the effect of stimulating the vagina to create more mucus and, thereby, rid itself of the offending bacteria causing the bacterial vaginosis infection. Many homeopathic remedies also work by stimulating the immune system to kick into a higher gear so to speak.
Unlike many other HRFB vaginosis, most homeopathic bacterial vaginosis remedies are not mixed at home. Instead, they are usually bought as a pre-prepared formula. There are good reasons for this including the fact that some of the individual ingredients can be really hard to find. Each of the ingredients are also used in such small concentrations that it would be very difficult to mix them at home to the desired very dilute concentrations. This is a very important point because many of the ingredients used in homeopathic remedies would be toxic, even outright dangerous, if used at higher concentrations!
Homeopathy has a sullied reputation due to the fact that there have, unfortunately, been charlatans associated with this style of medicine over the course of its history. This may be why some over the counter homeopathic bacterial vaginosis remedies that contain homeopathic ingredients in the very dilute concentrations use in homeopathy do not use the word, “homeopathy,” anywhere on the packaging. However, there has been a resurgence in interest over the past few years on using HomRFB vaginosis. In fact, one of the most popular over the counter HRFB vaginosis are the BV vaginal insets put out by VH Essentials, with a homeopathic bacterial vaginosis recipe including Borax, Carbolicum Acidum, Zincum Sulphuricum, Cuprum Sulphuricum, Sepia, Kali Bichromicum, Argentum Nitricum, and Calcium Carbonate. The Bacteria Arrest suppositories put out by Vitanica has a very similar formula.
Each ingredient of the VH Essentials suppositories and the Bacterial Arrest suppositories could be called a homeopathic bacterial vaginosis remedy by itself. However, there is also a long tradition in homeopathy to combine ingredients that complement and enhance each other. For example, sepia is thought to improve the performance of other homeopathic ingredients that boost the immune system.
